Argentina & Japan To Join Super Rugby 2016

Argentina and Japan rugby teams have been reportedly extended approvals for joining at the prestigious Super Rugby 2016 championship. The confirmation news was declared at a recent board meet in London which paved routes for a couple of new franchise bodies to start up signing players.

The Nippon squad would be based at the Japan capital Tokyo but would also take part in 3 home matches in Singapore whilst the Argentina counterpart would be playing at Buenos Aires.

Southern Kings, one extra squad from the South African side, would be joining the expanded challenge, as per the announcements from SANZAR.

“It’s an immense pleasure for us to welcome JRFU & UAR, who would be joining Southern Kings as 2016 Super Rugby preps up extend into an exciting and bo9ld new era”, stated Greg Peters, the CEO for SANZAR.

“As top ten ranked rugby countries with well established stellar performances & more than 100 000 rugby players from each side, there isn’t any doubt about Argentina and Japan’s rugby passion & readiness for the very sport.”

The squads from Argentina and Japan would play in South African pool & would be placed in the opposing conferences that are waiting for approval from the General Council of South African Rugby Union.

Argentina’s national rugby squad have already taken part in the Rugby Championship of southern hemisphere but a joining in this provincial championship would beget even more worth for the team.

“Playing in Rugby Championship, certainly, was very crucial for the process yet we still required this final & the major step of establishing an Argentina franchise in super Rugby which is definitely the top tournament of the rugby world. This will lead us from grassroots to pro level game”, remarked Agustin Pichot, a senior member from Argentina World Rugby Council.
